Lyric Opera of Chicago is holding Chicago and New York auditions seeking TENORS, BARITONES and BASSES for tenured, regular chorus
CHICAGO (5/1/2019) – Lyric Opera of Chicago will hold auditions on Wed., May 29, in Chicago; and Sun., June 2, and Mon., June 3, in New York. We are seeking experienced, classically trained tenors, baritones, and basses who are interested in professional positions in the company’s tenured Regular Chorus.

The 2019/20 chorus season runs August 26, 2019 through March 29, 2020, with a holiday break from December 8, 2019 through January 12, 2020. The 2019/20 season also includes an extension of the contract period through May 3, 2020 for the company’s production of the Ring cycle. A full (tentative) schedule of rehearsals and performances will be provided upon offer of employment. Regular Choristers will make $1545.00 per week for a guarantee of 26 weeks of work, plus additional pay for the Ring cycle, sick/personal time, maternity/paternity leave, vacation pay, life insurance, full-year health insurance, and pension.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants are expected to prepare two opera arias that best demonstrate their vocal ability. These arias must be sung in two contrasting languages and must be memorized. Please be prepared to sight read. The ability to read and memorize music quickly and accurately is a must. You should anticipate an audition lasting no longer than four minutes; please plan your repertoire accordingly.

Lyric Opera of Chicago will furnish an accompanist. You must provide a legible copy of each aria, in the correct key, for the accompanist.

You are required to prove United States citizenship; permanent residency; or possess, at the time of the audition, legal permission to work in the United States of America during the rehearsal and performance period.
